Lisa Dills, Clarinetist
Lisa Dills has been with the Livonia Symphony Orchestra for 21 years, and Principal Clarinetist since 1998. She is a member of the Orchestra’s Woodwind Quintet which performs for various public schools and community engagements.
A native of Michigan, Lisa attended Eastern Michigan University as a scholarship student in the Honors Program where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Her post-graduate work was in Music Theory and Literature. During her studies at the Music School, she was a Soloist with the EMU Orchestra as a winner of the annual Concerto Competition, and she was the Soloist with the EMU Wind Ensemble. Her teachers of Clarinet include Armand Abramson, Dr. Kimberly Cole Luevano and Ted Oien.
Lisa has spent most of her career as a teacher and instructor. She is currently a Band Director with the Michigan Home Education Music Association, and has a private Clarinet studio. Prior to that she taught Instrumental Music and was the 5th and 6th grade Band Director in the Novi Community School District. At Eastern Michigan University she taught the Clarinet Class for Music Educators and the Music Theory Lab Classes for Undergraduates.
As an active freelance musician in Southeastern Michigan, she has performed in numerous ensembles including an invitation to be a member of the Clarion Wind Symphony which recorded 20th century Wind Ensemble music of renowned composer Anthony Iannaccone.
Lisa is married and mother of two beautiful girls.
