About John Putnam
John A. Putnam, award winning artist, has performed in over 15 countries and throughout the entire United States. He has been described as; “The man who will bring back the classic heroic horn sound that defined countless motion pictures”. A born and raised Southern Californian, John first found success in the recording industry native to Hollywood. He can be heard on numerous motion pictures and television jingles.
As a soloist he has performed the R. Strauss, Concerto No. 1, op. 11, W.A. Mozart Horn Quintet, K. 407, W.A. Mozart Horn Concerto #4 in Eb, K. 495, Bach, Mass in B minor, BWV 232, and Bach’s 2nd Brandenburg Concerto. As an orchestral musician John has performed with numerous orchestras including; La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, The Golden State Pop Orchestra, and The California Philharmonic, The Toledo Symphony, The Southern Great Lakes Symphony, and Ann Arbor Symphony.
Mr. Putnam has had wonderful opportunities to play in some of the world’s finest concert halls, such as; Copley Symphony Hall, The California Center for the Arts, Schoenberg Auditorium, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Rudolfinum in Prague, and the Smetana Hall in the Czech Republic.
Among Mr. Putnam’s extensive solo and recital touring he also serves as Principal Horn for the Michigan Philharmonic, Southern Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra, and regularly performs with several of the other regional orchestras in Michigan and Ohio.
As strong advocate of contemporary music, he has premiered several ground breaking works by several composers including; Carl Mussa, Annie Neikirk and Marc Chester.
John is a practicing Buddhist and has a number of other interests including hyper-miling, kendo, aikido, and green eco- living.
