Angie Hahn’s Academy of Dance in Livonia teaches the technique, musicality, and vocabulary of dance. Students are instilled with a love for the art, the history of dance and a sense of confidence. Among the performing opportunities the academy provides students is the annual Nutcracker Ballet in collaboration with the Livonia Symphony Orchestra. Former and current students have been accepted to nationally acclaimed summer programs, including ABT, Joffrey Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Boston Ballet and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Dancers have successfully performed on Broadway and with companies such as San Diego Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet, among others.
Marie Rabey - Artistic Director
Marie Rabey performed as a principal dancer in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s annual Nutcracker for 17 years. Marie also acted as the production’s Ballet Mistress. She has danced solo and principal roles in the Michigan Opera Theatre productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Romeo and Juliet, and in several operas, including choreographing the dance sequences for La Traviata. Marie enjoyed the opportunities of dancing in a national touring production of The Phantom of the Opera, and performing on tour with “The Queen of Soul”, Aretha Franklin, and many other ballet companies. Her teaching credits include more than 30 years of teaching at Angie Hahn’s Academy of Dance (formerly Bunny Sanford’s School of Dance), as well as teaching for other local schools and at Oakland University and EMU.
We Are Proud to Be Part of the Livonia Symphony Orchestra’s Nutcracker Performances!
We Wish you a Merry Christmas
